Week One of the Cross-Country season is in the books, and despite limited teams competing, there was plenty of action. There were dual and tri meets between top ranked teams as well as multiple invitationals.
So now it’s time for our week one Power Rankings brought to you by New Balance. Even with the limited action, quite a few teams made statements this weekend.
Catholic Memorial debuts on our Power Rankings after a dominant win at the Vineyard Invitational. They slot themselves in at #14 after putting their top five in the top fifteen on the Vineyard.
Natick and Brookline both stay where they were after a highly anticipated dual meet that gave us our first glimpse at both contenders.
The Clipper Relays provided noteworthy action from many of our ranked teams and some that were not on our list beforehand. It’s hard to judge the results of a relay meet like this compared to a standard Cross Country meet, still there were some performances that couldn’t be ignored.
Lexington showed why they belong at the top, but it was Lowell who made the biggest leap. They move up to #11 after their runner up performance to Lexington. North Andover and Andover make their respected debuts after finishing 5th and 8th. Saint John’s Prep and Reading were also in attendance and fielded multiple teams in the top ten, keeping them in their respective spots.
