Our final week of power rankings is here. This past weekend wrapped the final conference and league championship meets and gave us plenty of results to pore through. Here’s where things stand:
Week 8
1. Lexington
2. Billerica
3. Concord-Carlsile
4. Needham
5. Newton North
6. Whitinsville Christian
7. Winchester
8. Mt. Greylock
9. Amherst
10. Bishop Feehan
11. Milton +4
12. Greater Lowell
13. Wachusett
14. Notre Dame Academy
15. Weymouth
16. Boston Latin Academy
17. North Andover
18. Northampton
19. Hamilton-Wenham
20. Brookline
Our top teams hold steady. Billerica’s win at the Merrimack Valley Conference Championships was impressive to say the least. The girls occupied nine of the top eleven spots and all ran 19:24 or better. Senior Gianna McGowan also ran her first race of the season and could be instrumental over the next few weeks.
While Concord-Carlisle wasn’t quite as dominant, they had a strong showing at the Dual Country League Championships winning with a score of 29. They will look to defend their Division 1B crown in just over a week.
The Bay State Conference proved to be the most impactful. While Needham may not have gained on our top two teams, they have also distanced themselves from the rest of the competition. The Rockets won with an impressive score of 52 to top Newton North. They should be the top team in D1A not named Lexington. Newton North was runner up but the big story was Milton. They move up to #11 after a strong showing. Junior Grace Danielson had a big race taking the win in 18:20. Keep an eye on the results for the divisional round to see how many teams advance from the Bay State Conference.
While next week we will focus on meet previews rather than power rankings, there are still some impactful races coming up this weekend. Our numbers #8 and 9 teams, Mt. Greylock and Amherst, should be competing at the Western Mass Championships. They both could be battling it out for a Division Two and Three crown in a few weeks time.

How about Power Rankings by division? D3 teams at an obvious disadvantage. Thanks, Peter Vigue
