New Balance Girls Power Rankings

Week One of the Cross-Country season is in the books, and despite limited teams competing, there was plenty of action. There were dual and tri meets between top ranked teams as well as multiple invitationals.

So now it’s time for our week one Power Rankings brought to you by New Balance. There wasn’t a lot of movement compared to our preseason rankings since most teams have yet to compete, however, there was still some major performances this week, as well as some new teams that have entered the rankings.

After falling to #5 Needham in a close race, Weymouth won the Vineyard Invitational to move themselves into 12th. That race also featured defending champs Amherst-Pelham Regional, who ran neck and neck with Weymouth, and finished one point behind them. The Hurricanes move up to the 17th spot.

At the Clipper Relays, Billerica made their best possible case for the #1 spot without winning. Lexington won the relay meet, while Billerica took the next three places. Both remain in their original spots. Marblehead and Chelmsford make their debuts this season after finishing fifth and sixth behind our two top ranked teams.
