Preseason Cross Country Rankings Girls #13: Weymouth

#13 Weymouth

At 13, we have another familiar team, and another one from the Bay State Conference. Every year Weymouth seems to go from battling at the Bay State Conference meet to battling at the Division 1A Championships. And they’re always in contention.

This season they’ll be led again by Sonia Souto, who had a strong junior season with a fifth-place finish at the BSC meet and a 14th place showing at the 1A race. Like many of the top teams as we continue down the list, we know Weymouth will get a solid finish up front. They did graduate their two and three runners from 2025, but we think they have the pieces to make another solid run.

Incoming junior Evelyn Hieshetter had one of her best performances at the Meet of Champions last year, running a PB of 20:11. She has the potential to be a solid #2 runner for the Wildcats. Natalie McInnis was also part of their post season team and returns with a PB of 20:18. In her first XC season, incoming senior Christina Marshall ran a PR of 20:36 at the Frank Mooney invitational. Sydney Phillips also ran her 5K best at the Meet of Champions, clocking 20:48 at Devens.

While their times may not jump off the page like some other teams on this list, the championship experience these girls bring is what could make the difference. Combine that with a strong team history and we think the Weymouth Wildcats will be a team to watch in 2025.
