BSR Scribbles: That’s a Wrap! Thank You For Another Memorable Season

It’s a wrap!

The 2025–26 cross-country and track & field seasons officially came to a close at last weekend’s national competitions, including the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, where our state’s top athletes were simply at their best.

It was another great sendoff to a year that provided its share of memorable moments and accomplishments over the last 10 months.

From all of us at Bay State Running, we’d like to take the time to wish our graduating seniors the very best in their future endeavors, with several continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The foundation for your future was built the moment you walked through the doors of your respective high school. Take what you learned in the classroom and through athletics – the successes, the setbacks, the friendships, and the lessons- and let those experiences guide you as you move on to the next chapter. Continue to let your star shine brightly wherever your journey takes you.

We’d also like to thank all of our athletes for another exciting year. While we provide the content by highlighting the special moments that have taken place throughout the year on our website and Instagram account, you provided the stories and the highlights through everything you accomplished on the cross-country trails, on the track oval, behind the throwing cages, and everywhere else.

It was a pleasure capturing those moments, and as always, we look forward to doing it again when fall arrives.

While we will have a break from our coverage of the high school season, we won’t be taking a break from producing content here at BSR. Beginning shortly, we’ll be highlighting some of the top performances from this past outdoor season in our Memorable Moments series.

Just like he did last summer, former Marshfield standout Dan Joyce of Marathon Sports is once again highlighting the top 20 cross-country teams to watch for the upcoming fall season. Look for that to start on our site in the coming weeks.

Also, please keep us in the loop throughout the summer. If there’s something happening that you think would make a great story or spark our interest, let us know. We’re always looking for content that helps us continue promoting this great sport and the outstanding athletes who make it special.

Have a feature story idea? Know an athlete who has overcome incredible adversity to achieve success? Maybe there’s a coach or team member who deserves some recognition. We’d love to hear from you. We’d love the opportunity to tell their story. You can reach out to us by emailing smazzone5@gmail.com.

Thinking ahead…the upcoming fall cross-country season officially begins on Monday, Aug. 24.

The first statewide competition will be held on Sept. 6 at Highland Park with the annual MSTCA X-C Relays. The MSTCA will also host six additional invitationals throughout the season – the Frank Kelley Invitational at Wrentham (Sept. 20), the Ted Dutkiewicz Invitational at Stanley Park (Sept. 21), the Bay State Invitational at Wrentham (Sept. 27), the Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds (Oct. 11–12), the Dick Atkinson Invitational at Stanley Park (Oct. 19), and the Frank Mooney Invitational at Wrentham (Nov. 1).

Marathon Sports will once again host three meets – the second annual MARSHVegas Classic at the Marshfield Fairgrounds (Sept. 13), the Ocean State Invitational at Goddard Park in Warwick, R.I. (Sept. 25-26) and the second annual Devens Pre-Championship Classic (Oct. 10) at Fort Devens.

The MIAA Division Championships, held at various venues, are scheduled for Nov. 8, followed by the MIAA Meet of Champions on Nov. 15 at Fort Devens.

Trust us, the season will be here before you know it. And that’s a good thing.

Until then, enjoy the summer!
