The championship season in Massachusetts technically begins in mid-May with the conference and league meets.
But in the eyes of many coaches and athletes, it all starts this weekend with the annual MSTCA State Relays. From Friday through Sunday at various venues, schools from across the Bay State will compete in what is often considered a true team championship – a meet that consists of 15 different relays in five different divisions.
The action begins Friday at 4 p.m., with Division 5 at Triton Regional and Division 6 at Ayer Shirley. Saturday features Division 2 at Bridgewater-Raynham and Division 1 at New Bedford, both starting at 2 p.m. The weekend concludes Sunday with Division 3 at Oliver Ames and Division 4 at Pembroke, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
