With a relatively quiet week, there isn’t much movement in our rankings. However, there were some notable performances form last week that warranted some shuffling. Familiar face Weymouth moves up three spots on our list after taking down Natick. The Redhawks were coming off a win in the Large Schools race at the Ocean State Invite which makes this win all the more significant. All signs point to another fantastic battle at the Bay State Conference meet in a few weeks.
Boston Latin Academy and North Andover crossed the border to battle both New Hampshire and the surging temperatures. Boston Latin Academy finished third overall, behind Oyster River and Pinkerton of NH. They move into our #16 spot and are steadily laying claim to the #3 team in Division 2. North Andover finished fifth overall at Battle of the Border amongst the strong field.
So where do the rest of our teams stand as we head into the second half of the season? We have another massive weekend of racing coming up, which will shake the rankings up again. The Devens Pre-Championship Classic will give us an idea of what some of our top teams look like on our Meet of Champs course.
There’s also the blazing fast Twilight Meet which will feature #2 Westford Academy and #5 Needham. While we typically focus on team results, it’s impossible to ignore the impending clash between two of the nation’s best in Abbey Hennessy and Greta Hammer. Could we see two sub 17 performances? We think so.
There’s also some notable out of state competition with Wickham Park in Connecticut and the Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortland Park. #1 Lexington is slated to compete at Wickham. We feel they were snubbed in some preseason regional rankings, so this is their chance to put the rest of the Northeast on notice.
