New Balance Boys Power Rankings Week 3

This past week had the most action thus far this season. There were multiple invitationals across multiple states over the weekend, as well as some great dual meets during the week. With plenty of racing comes a lot of results to pour through.

Our top four remains unchanged, however, we saw the biggest movement within the top 10. There was a colossal dual meet between Boston College High School and Saint John’s Prep at Franklin Park, that the BC High Eagles won 19-36. In response to their first loss, the Saint John’s Prep Eagles went out to Wrentham and had the most impressive performance of the day. Is it possible they took it easy to rest up for Frank Kelly? It’s possible. But what can’t be denied is how strong the BC boys looked over Franklin Park. Four under 16:50 and their fifth at 17:11 would be tough to beat for any team in the state. If they can duplicate those times at Fort Devens they’ll be in a good shape to take a shot at the win when states roll around.

The Frank Kelley Invitational produced the most results and performances so far this season. However, given the races were only 3K, and run by class, they’re somewhat difficult to analyze. As mentioned, Saint John’s Prep responded and had a great day, winning the Sophomore and Junior Race.

Looking through the results combined, a few other teams had standout performances. Boston Latin Academy announced themselves as contenders and make their debut on our list at 14. We got our first glimpse at the Parker Charter Boys who had a great afternoon spread out through the small school races as well. Billerica rejoins the top 20, showing strength in almost every race. They had individual winners in the Junior and Sophomore race, and as well as the runner up in the Senior Race.

North Andover continues their ascent after another strong showing, this time in NH at the Manchester Invitational. They finished third amongst a strong field.
