#14 Oliver Ames Boys top Mansfield 22-36, #18 Oliver Ames Girls win 17-44
Landon Sarney blazed the fastest 5K in the state thus far, running 15:26 on the Mansfield Course. Sarney is coming off a big outdoor season where he won the 2 Mile at the Division 3 Outdoor Championship. Oliver Ames took care of business, but Mansfield looked strong. Junior Joseph Federline Jr of Mansfield was second in 16:10 and led a top five that all ran 18:18 or better.
In the girl’s race, Oliver Ames took the first four spots before ceding the next two to Mansfield. Kathleen Beaulieu won in a time of 20:33 over the 5K course. April Haddigan was first for Mansfield in 22:38. Devin Thomas and Ashley Powers both ran under 21 for the Tigers as well.
#10 Parker Charter Essential tops Burncoat 17-46
The strong boys squad from Parker Charter took care of business after a strong performance at the MSTCA relays. Burncoat avoided the sweep thanks to Junior Griffin Spofford who finished fourth in 17:03 on the 5K course
The Girls from Parker Charter won in similar fashion, topping both Burncoat and Notre-Dame Academy. Parker’s top three of Daphne Croft, Elsa Peirpont, and Summer Goyette took the first three positions together in 22:18-19.
#8 Boston College High bests Xaverian Brothers 20-38
Division 1’s top returner Greg McGrath won by almost a minute in 15:55. Xaverian’s Jack Weintraub was second in 16:54. BC High’s next three runners, Colin Kurtz, Owen Geagan and Theo Weiss, finished together in 17:19-20.
Samuel Keith of Xaverian finished sixth in 17:42. Keith is one of the top overall returners from last season after finishing 21st at the Meet of Champions in 16:29. We didn’t see him this outdoor season so it’s great to see him racing again.
Top ranked teams from the Middlesex League Compete
Arlington tops Burlington 16-47
Chloe Reinelt and Sofia Faust went 1-2 for Arlington in 20:39 and 20:43. Burlington avoided the sweep thanks to Mariska Kilroy who finished 22:02.
Arlington Boys top Burlington 15-50
The Spy Ponders speed and strength were on full display yesterday as they took the first seven spots. Up front were Owen Merrill and 800m speedster Nico Peukert in 16:41. Top returner Daichi Collins was sixth for them in 17:12. Collins was 39th at the Meet of Champions last season.
#3 Lexington Boys top Wakefield 18-43
Patrick Noonan took the win while some of Lexington’s top runners were absent or resting after racing this past weekend.
#1 Lexington Girls top Wakefield 16-47
Similar to the Boys race, we didn’t see some of Lexington’s top runners as they took care of business yesterday. Liza Bangston of Wakefield broke the Lexington pack finishing fifth in 21:37.
Dyestat released their Northeast Rankings and left Lexington out. While they were featured as an honorable mention, could this serve as bulletin board material for out #1 Team?
*Billerica and Westford Academy were ranked four and five.
Patriot League Opens
Marshfield boys top Hingham 19-40, Girls 17-38
Marshfield Boys went 1-3 led by Tucker McNamee in 16:10 over the 2.98 Mile course. Freshmen Conor Rightmire was second in 16:12. Gavin Anderson was fourth overall for Hingham in 16:42.
Sarah Penney had a commanding win for Marshfield in 19:52 while her teammates took the next three spots. Casey Gately finished fifth overall for Hingham.
#20 North Quincy Girls Top Hanover
North Quincy was able to secure a perfect score against Hanover by taking the first five positions. Hanover broke up their top seven taking sixth and seventh. Maddy McGillicuddy was the overall winner 19:51, not far off her PR of 19:40. Top returner Ada Cote was second in 21:06.
