Under less-than-ideal conditions with a steady rainfall and a slight wind, the Frank Kelley Invitational was held on Saturday at the Wrentham Developmental Center
In the featured Championship 5K races, Cambridge Rindge & Latin’s Aoife Shovlin and Falmouth’s Silas Gartner claimed the respective girls’ and boys’ title. Shovlin, the two-time Division 1 state champion, cruised the 3.1-mile layout in a PR of 17 minutes, 54.49 seconds. Oxford’s Cameron Davis was second at 18:06.51.
Gartner averaged five-minute pace on the up-and-down terrain, clocking a winning 15:30.72. Separated by mere strides, Cambridge Rindge & Latin teammates Daniel Bronstein (second, 15:42.10) and Gael Medina (third, 15:42.41) took the next two spots.
