The first statewide championship meet of the season was not short on talent back in late April with the division state relays taking place at different locales.
At the Division 1 Relays, the Framingham girls’ sprint medley and 4×400-meter relays would give us a preview of what would happen a little more than a month later when it came championship time. The Flyer’ foursome of Catelyn Last, Ava Lombardo, Abby Desmarais and Sasha Lamakina were untouchable in the SMR, combining for time of 4:06.53, nearly eight seconds ahead of runner-up Holliston. The same quartet was on the oval again later in the meet to post an impressive victory and sub four-minute clocking in the 4x400m, combining for a time of 3:58.54, four seconds ahead of second-place Central Catholic.
The Flyers would improve on their efforts by season end. In the 4x400m, Framingham captured the title at the Div. 1 Championships and Meet of Champions. At the latter meet, the Flyers improved on their state-leader with a time of 3:54.44. In mid June down in Philadelphia, the Flyers ran their best time of the season in the SMR. dipping under their previous school record with a time of 4:03.17 to place tenth overall. at the New Balance Nationals.
