BSR To Cover Adrian Martinez Classic on Saturday

After a four-year hiatus, the Adrian Martinez Classic is back this weekend and Bay State Running will be there to capture it all.

BSR will record Saturday’s meet, which includes high-performance men’s and women’s races that features top-class elite runners competing in the 800-meter run, 1,500m and 5K. Held at Emerson Field in Concord, Mass., the Martinez Classic kicks off a 4 p.m.., with a series of community races. The high-performances races start at 6 p.m., beginning with Section B of the men’s 800m. Northbridge’s Marcus Reilly is among the entries in that race. Reilly’s most recent performance was a third-place finish at TrackNight NYC on May 19 where he was timed in 1:54.20 inside Icahn Stadium. Reilly owns a PR of 1:50.17 from his runner-up finish at last year’s New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships. Former Acton-Boxborough all-stater and recent Yale grad Samantha Friborg is entered in Section B of the women’s 800m (6:08 p.m.) . Friborg clocked a near best of 2:04.80 at the Yale Last Chance Meet on May 13.

Belmont’s Ellie Shea is scheduled for the women’s 1,500m (6:14 p.m.) where she’s matched up against a field that includes top collegians and professionals. It will be Shea’s last race before before competing in the two mile at next Wednesday’s Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. Middlesex School alum AJ Ernst will be locking horns in Section .A of the 1,500, (7:56 p.m.) at the conclusion of the meet.
