The Eagles are soaring.
After a tough start to the season due to what we assumed were injuries, Boston College High School are back and better than ever. The Eagles took down rival Saint John’s Prep at Tuesday’s Catholic Conference Championship with a tight score off 44-48. BC High Senior Colin Kurtz got a big victory running 15:24 to signal he’ll be a contender in Division 1 in a few weeks. Xaverian was third and continue to impress. Catholic Memorial appears to be rounding back into form just in time for the post season as they’ll look to battle for the Division 1C Crown. Xaverian Senior Jack Weintraub continues to show he’s much more than an 800m runner, and finished runner up in 15:28.
In a similar story, the Lexington Boys are rounding into form. They looked impressive at the ML-12 Championships, winning with a score of 32 points and sweeping the podium. It’s worth noting the that course at Woburn Country Club was altered this year and is now a true 5K. Patrick Noonan got the win in 15:37 with Trevor Stephens and Alden Hall finishing 2-3. They’ll look to keep the ball rolling into the Division 1A championships. Arlington was second with 65 points, and Reading was third with 69 points. It was a great performance for the Rockets who also are rounding into form at the right time. They look to be the favorites in Division 1C.
