Last weekend was supposed to be one of the biggest racing events of the year that would produce seismic level results. Unfortunately, mother nature got in the way, and we were left with speculation. Which is what this list is all about anyway. So, there wasn’t much movement this week, again, however there were some interesting and strong results worth mentioning.

Up top, except for one team that we’ll get too, there wasn’t a lot of movement. Brookline holds steady at #1 after dispatching Wellesley in what looked like a controlled effort. Perhaps prepping for this weekend. Brookline appears ready to toe the line at the Bay State Invitational this weekend which may give us our first real glimpse at their top seven against many of the state’s best.
We’re still waiting for the debut of the highly anticipated Cambridge team. They have Bay State listed on their schedule but don’t appear in the entries. Stay tuned.
Xaverian makes a big splash this week, coming in at #7, proving they may be the Cambridge of this year. While we had them on our honorable mention list to start the year we didn’t anticipate this. So far, they’re 2-1 this season, topping both BC High and Catholic Memorial, and lost to Saint John’s Prep on a tie breaker. The other surprise is senior Jack Weintraub emerging as an individual title contender. While he was already one of the most anticipated returnees on the track, he’s known more for his speed over 800m. Xaverian will head down to Manhattan in a couple weeks’ time for a great challenge at Van Cortland Park.
The other big mover this week is Belmont. The Marauders proved they’re for real defeating Reading 25-30. Noah Geiger led the way running 15:49 over their Three-Mile course. The Middlesex League could be up for grabs this year and Belmont is in the driver’s seat. They face Lexington on 10/20.
Knock on wood, but this should be the biggest weekend of action so far. Many of our top teams will be at the Bay State Invitation this weekend, but there’s also Frank Kelley and Battle of the Border in New Hampshire.
