#14 Wellesley
At 14 we have a familiar contender in Wellesley. A staple at the top of the Bay State Conference, this year they’ll be led again but a Tuxbury. This year, Madeline Tuxbury should take the reins as the Raiders #1 runner, a position we’ve seen both her sisters in. Madeline returns with a PR of 18:37 and the #5 overall returnee from 1B. (She’s #6 from the Bay State Conference which goes to show how competitive that league is)
We’re confident Tuxbury will score low up front for Wellesley, but if they want to close that gap on teams like Needham and Newton North it will come from farther back.
Fellow Junior Madeleine Coggins had a strong season in 2025 as their #3 runner. She ran 20:43 to finish 32nd at the Divisional race and is a strong candidate to move up into the top 15-20 this year. In fact, most of Wellesley’s team should look familiar this season. Eloise Crissman, Grace Taylor, Samantha Levine and Casey Bresnahan all got experience running at either the Division 1B race or Meet of Champions.
Wellesley’s biggest issue for 2026 is that the teams that beat them in 2025 also return experienced squads. However, races aren’t won on paper. This is why the summer breaks makes XC so exciting. Wellesley also had a few standout freshmen in the distance events on the track that didn’t run XC. Perhaps we’ll see some surprise additions this fall.
