Preseason Cross Country Rankings Boys #14: Arlington

#14 Arlington

Coming in at #14 is Middlesex League staple Arlington. Last season the Spy Ponders raced sparingly and flew under the radar despite a plethora of talent. They ended up second at the ML-12 Championship and third at the Division 1B race. The 2026 team brings back five runners that ran 16:40 or faster at the ML-12 Meet. While that course is notoriously fast, we think they’re set up well to build upon last year’s success.

Owen Merril is their top returnee and has a 15:38 PR from the course at the Woburn Country Club. The incoming senior followed that up with a 9:41 on the track. Incoming junior Zachary Weinberg could potentially hold down their #2 spot. He was 25th at their League and ran a PR of 10:04 to finish third at the Jim Hoar Freshmen Sophomore meet this spring.

Their next three runners, Evan Jacobson, Nathan Wilson, and Tobias Michael, all finished within 10 seconds of each other at their league meet. This trio could decide whether the Spy Ponders are a good team, or a great team. If they can all duplicate their PRS on courses like Wrentham or Fort Devins, Arlington should be near the top of their league and Division again. They’ll be tested early and often in the Middlesex League gauntlet. They face Lexington on 9/22.
