It was yet another eventful season for our MA track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Bay State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. Here we feature Franklin’s Sarah Dumas.
When it comes to the multis, there’s been no one better than the Panthers’ Dumas. She’s proved it on both the indoor and outdoor surfaces, winning state crowns and earning All-American honors in the pentathlon or heptathlon at the New Balance Nationals the last two years. During a spring campaign where she also captured an individual crown in the 100-meter hurdles (PR, 14.27 seconds), Dumas made All American for the fourth time in as many tries by taking third overall in the heptathlon at the New Balance Nationals in mid June with 4,825 points. The Franklin standout scored her most points (927) in the 100m HH where she was first with a time of 14:37. She also was second in the high jump (PR, 5 feet, 4.25 inches) and the 200m (PR, 25.57) and third in the shot (33-8). Dumas also achieved all-time bests in the javelin (seventh, 90-6) and the 800m (seventh, 2:27.40) and was sixth in the long jump (16-9.25), too.
