Memorable Moments, 2024: Lehr Takes BSR Elite Scholastic Mile

It was yet another eventful season for our MA track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Bay State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. Here’s we feature Belmont’s Dana Lehr

The second annual BSR Elite Scholastic Mile on May 3 certainly didn’t disappoint with some of our region’s best battling it out at Regis College. In the girls’ event, it was Lehr that was the first to break the tape. With a strong finishing kick, the Marauders’ junior held off RI rival Rory Sullivan of St. Raphael Academy down the stretch to earn the gold with a five-second PR of 4:54.14. Lehr would lead eight runners under five minutes in the race. Her sterling effort would be one of several highlights of the season for Lehr, one that included the first individual title of her career a month later at the Meet of Champions with a victory in the two mile, an event she would clock an all-time best of 10:31.56 at the New Balance Nationals in mid June.
