HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Framingham’s Abby Desmarais, Peabody’s Alex Jackson

It’s never easy choosing the right individuals for our HOKA Athletes of the Week. When it comes Championship Time, like this past week’s MIAA Division State Championships, it make are job even harder. Trust us, we’d like to pick all our individual champions in the five meets. But if you do the math, that’s nearly 100 athletes when you factor multiple winners into the equation. We obviously can’t choose them all, so we narrowed it down to two. Congratulations to Peabody’s Alex Jackson and Framingham’s Abby Desmarais, our respective male and female recipients.

After coming close a few times this season and during the outdoor campaign, Jackson unleashed the first 60-footer of his career this past weekend. The Peabody senior captured his speciality at Friday’s Division 2 State Championships with a winning distance of 60-6.

As for Desmarais, she was a double-winner at the Div. 1 meet on Thursday, both times achieving state-leaders. The Flyers’ senior won the 55-meter dash in a PR of 7.03 seconds and the 300m in best of 39.61 to become our first athlete under the 40-second mark this winter.
