The final competition before next weekend’s divisional state championships will be held on Saturday when teams head over to the Wrentham Developmental Center for the annual Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational. The six-plus hour meet will have Small and Large School races for freshmen, sophomores, juniors (Large Schools), juniors & seniors (Small Schools) and seniors (Large School).
While most top harriers take this weekend off to prepare for the divisionals. there’s a good number that still make their way to Wrentham to utilize the Mooney Invite as one final tune-up before next weekend’s meets. In 2022, multiple state titlist Carmen Luisi of Holliston won the Small School Junior/Senior race with a time of 18 minutes, 19 seconds. Teammate Maggie Kuchman also broke 19 minutes for the five-kilometer course, finishing second at 18:52.6. In the boys’ Junior/Senior race, Northbridge’s Marcus Reilly clocked the fastest time. The Rams’ senior, who will be looking to capture his first individual state title at the Div. 3B Championships on Nov. 11, crossed the line in a triumphant 15:54.8.
