Christmas Lights, Music Blaring, PRs…It’s Twilight Time!

The biggest and, of course, one of the most popular meets of the cross-country season is this weekend with the annual Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational. Held at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in Barnstable, the two-day nighttime event features novice/co-ed, freshmen, sophomore, junior varsity and varsity races competing on a fast loop course that’s completed illuminated with miles of Christmas lights and music blaring to provide extra motivation for PR performances. Small and Medium Schools are set to compete on Friday night, beginning at 5:15 p.m. The Large Schools will collide on Saturday with the first race slated for 5:30 p.m. Except for the Novice/Co-Ed and Freshmen events, which cover 2.1 miles, the course is five-kilometers on a relatively, flat terrain throughout the fairgrounds. Twenty-six boys broke 16 minutes in 2022, while 21 girls dipped under 19 minutes. Expect PRs and confidence-boosters to come in flurries again this weekend.

Bay State Running will be on site both days to take care of all the action.
