What better way to keep our content flowing here at Bay State Running than to recognize the top moments of the outdoor track season of 2023. Over the next few weeks, BSR will highlight some of the finer performances by our track & field athletes. Congratulations to all our athletes. Memorable Moments, 2023: Sargent Takes New England Shot Title
After throwing in the mid-30 foot range for the shot in 2022, Catherine Sargent had a breakthrough year inside the circle during her senior campaign. The Dedham standout tossed the metal ball further than 40 feet multiple times during the indoor season and captured the Division 5 crown with a best of 41 feet, 5.5 inches. Sargent continued her consistency this past spring, matching her third-place finish from the winter at the Meet of Champions and then unleashing the best throw of her career at the New England Championships on June 10 where she had a winning effort at 44-3, a PR by nearly two feet!
