HOKA Male Athlete(s) Of The Week: Sean Golembiewski, Hopkinton; Nathan Lopez, St. John’s Prep

As to be expected, the MIAA Meet of Champions had a plethora of outstanding performances this past weekend. Guess that’s what happens when you have the best track & field athletes in the state on the same stage.

There were certainly many to pick from for this week’s male recipient of the HOKA Athlete of the Week. Like we’ve done ia few times in the past, we’re picking two worthy athletes. Congratulations to our co-honorees, Nathan Lopez of St. John’s Prep and Hopkinton’s Sean Golembiewski. In his final in-state championship as a high-schooler, Lopez had a meet to remember at the MOC. The University of Michigan commit erased Alberto Salazar’s 48-year-old meet record in the two mile on Thursday with a winning time of 8 minutes, 59.29. Lopez came back two days later to take the mile (4:12.99) and anchor the first-place 4x800m squad (7:52.13). The Hillers’ Golemblewski swept the hurdles event, capturing the 110m HH in 14.49 and the 400m IH in 53.82.
