New Balance Girls Power Rankings: Week 2

Most of our top teams remain unchanged as we have yet to see many of them race at full strength. Newton North and Wellesley remain unchanged after slugging it out the last few weeks in the Bay State Conference. Melrose put up a valiant effort against Winchester, that became more of statement of how strong the red and black are. Melrose’s top five all ran under 22, and Reilly Powell put down one of the fastest 5K times in the state with an 18:53. Melrose debuts at #20 on our list.

Concord-Carlisle moves up one spot after taking the Highland Park Invitational. Finishing second was Whitinsville Christian, earning their first spot on our list, with perhaps the most upside. For the second time in a row Emily and Abby Flagg went 1-2 at an Invitational. As the rest of their top seven improves, they’re team is only going to place higher.

Boston Latin Academy makes the biggest jump, debuting at #13. They won the Marshvegas classic over the weekend, and their top two runners, Sara Blanco and Anjuli Claire Szydlo, finished 1-2. North Andover also makes their debut after finishing runner up at the same meet.
