8. BC High
Last year’s runner up at the Meet of Champions Division 1 Race comes in at the eighth spot. Up front they’re led by Division 1’s top returner, and arguably, number one overall, Greg McGrath. After a strong indoor and outdoor season where he ran 9:06, McGrath will be fighting for the individual title at the front of the race.
BC High has a couple massive holes to fill due to graduation, but McGrath will be far from alone. Colin Kurtz, Theo Weiss, and Owen Geagan followed their strong XC season with impressive outdoor campaigns. Geagan ran 4:24 for the mile and will look to Join McGrath with the rest of the state’s best. Weiss ran 4:32 for the mile while Kurtz ran 9:52 for the Two.
The good news for the Eagles is they have competition for their fifth spot. On paper Elijah Hata comes in with the best 5K time and should start the season in the coveted spot. Watch out for incoming sophomore Joseph Hayes. After sticking with the shorter distances in the XC season, he ran 4:40 for the mile this spring.
