HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Boston College High’s Shamus Larnard & Westford Academy’s Abby Hennessey

Bay State athletes certainly made their presence known this past weekend at the Ocean State Invitational with a number of team and individual champions during Saturday’s competition in East Greenwich, R.I. From that meet, two stood out from the rest and are deservingly so our latest HOKA Athlete’s of the Week.

With victories in the featured Championship girls’ and boys’ race, respectively, we’d like to congratulate Westford Academy’s Abby Hennessey and Boston College High’s Shamus Larnard for this week’s honor.

Hennessey, a junior, won the elite competition by sizzling the five-kilometer layout at Goddard State Memorial Park in a PR of 17 minutes, 59.4 seconds. The talented middle-distance star proved it doesn’t matter the surface of the distance, when the competition is at its best the Ghosts’ standout is often the same. Her effort was nearly 14 seconds ahead of pre-race favorite Chase Gilbert of Old Lyme (CT), who was timed in 18:14.0.

Larnard, also a junior, led the talented Eagles to the team title at Saturday’s meet by breaking the tape in 15:48.0. His performance was 23 seconds faster than what he ran at last year’s race where he was 31st overall.
