It was yet another eventful season for our MA track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Bay State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. We’re kicking things off with Chelmsford’s Gable Gray.
As a freshmen last year, Gray showed great promise in the javelin throw. After placing tenth at thge Meet of Champions, the Lions’ standout captured the freshmen title at the New Balance Nationals with a then best of 175 feet, 11 inches. Gray followed up that initial year with an even better one this spring. He was nearly unbeaten against his MA rivals, which included an all-time best and nation No. 10 of 206-3 to earn the individual title at the Andover Boosters Invitational in mid May. Gray’s effort improved on his previous best of 199-4, set just seven days earlier at the Weston Twilight Invitational. The Chelmsford tenth-grader finished the spring with two 190-footers. He won the Division 2 crown at 198-1 and solidified All-American status at the New Balance Nationals by placing sixth with a distance of 190-8.
