What better way to keep our content flowing here at Bay State Running than to recognize the top moments of the outdoor track season of 2023. Over the next few weeks, BSR will highlight some of the finer performances by our track & field athletes. Congratulations to all our athletes. Memorable Moments, 2023: Dumas Secures Silver At New Balance
It was quite the year for Sarah Dumas. The Franklin High sophomore racked up a host of PRs in throwing, running and jumping events, This versatility made the Panther standout one of the nation’s top penthaletes. During the indoor season, Dumas collected 3,275 points to place fourth overall at the New Balance Nationals. Three months later at the outdoor nationals, she improved two more placements by taking runner-up honors at UPenn’s historic Franklin Field with a score of 3,508 points. In four of the five events, Dumas placed no less than third overall. She had a PR of 2 minutes, 28.35 seconds in the 800m and scored her most points in the shot where she had a near best of 34-4.75, good for 759 points. Her two-day performance concluded a spring campaign where she also earned her first individual title, taking the 100m HH with a time of 14.37 at the Meet of Champions, a meet she also won, you guessed it, the pentathlon.
