Of the more than 90 schools scheduled to compete this weekend, eight boys and eight girls rank among the top 20 runners in the state. Meanwhile, a combined 20 teams are ranked in their respective boys’ and girls’ polls.
And that’s just Massachusetts. Strong programs from Rhode Island and New Hampshire will also make the trip, adding even more depth to an already impressive field.
Saturday’s 65th annual Catholic Memorial Invitational is once again shaping up to be a showcase of some of the state and New England’s best competing at Franklin Park for what promises to be a series of classic showdowns at the historic venue.
Presented by Marathon Sports and New Balance, this weekend’s competition begins at 9 a.m. It features seven races, starting with separate freshman and junior varsity 3Ks before concluding with the varsity 5Ks. The varsity schedule includes a girls’ race at 10:30 a.m., followed by two boys’ races – the Vincent Catano Red Race at 11 a.m., and the Brother Barry Silver Race at 11:30 a.m.
Once the entries have been finalized on Wednesday night, we’ll preview what we expect could happen once the gun is fired in the feature events of the day.
Below is the meet schedule and a link to complete entries/live results of New England’s longest running cross-country traditions.
