This past week had the most action thus far this season. There were multiple invitationals across multiple states over the weekend, as well as some great dual meets. With plenty of racing comes a lot of results to pour through.
Week Three sees out first Change at #1. While Lexington has done nothing to make us worry about their potential and how good they’ll be come November, it’s impossible to ignore the performance of Billerica at the Frank Kelly Invitational. They’re all over the results. They won both the Freshmen and Sophomore races. They didn’t field a full team in the Junior race, but still went 1-2 and had three in the top five. For that reason, they take over #1.
Newton North leapfrogs Needham after a strong showing against stiff competition during Bay State League Competition. They both square off this week in dual meet action, which will give a clear idea of how they measure against one another. Concord-Carlisle continues to climb the rankings after a win at the Amherst Invitational and cracks the top ten for the first time.
Billerica wasn’t the only team that had a great day at Frank Kelly. Norwell moves up to our #11 spot in the biggest move of the week, after a strong showing at Wrentham. Canton makes their debut at #15. Like Billerica and Boston Latin Academy in the boys’ races, they ran well across all races. Braintree breaks into the top 20 as well after a great day. They’ve run well all season despite taking losses in the difficult Bay State Conference. Notre-Dame Academy Hingham also makes their debut anchored by a couple of major performances from their underclassmen against Ursuline. We’ll keep an eye out for them as the season continues.
