HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Chelmsford’s Gable Gray & Reading’s Katie Caraco

Several meets occupied the slate this past weekend, including the Andover Boosters Invitational, the MSTCA Coaches Invitational and the MSTCA Twilight Invitational. From that trio of meets and a bunch more, MA track & field athletes continued to prove their getting into peak shape for the upcoming championship meets.

While we could have recognized a plethora of top performers from those competitions for this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week, we narrowed in down to two that we felt were the most worthy. Congratulations to Chelmsford’s Gable Gray and Reading’s Katie Caraco, our respective male and female recipients.

Gray turned a few heads at the Weston Twilight Invitational on May 4 when he captured the javelin with a 25-foot best of 199-4. At the Andover Invite, the Chelmsford tenth-grader went nearly seven feet further with a PR of 206-3, an effort that ties him for No. 7 in the country.

At the same meet, Caraco was a triple-winner, taking firsts in the triple jump at 38-9.75, long jump at 18-7 and the high jump at 5-4. Her effort in the triple jump ranks her No. 2 in the state. She’s No. 6 for the long jump and is tied with five others in the high jump with her 5-6 effort earlier in the season.
