It’s Twilight Time! Weston’s Mega-Popular Meet On Saturday

A nighttime event under the lights, music blaring and top competition.

You simply can’t ask for more.

That’s why at this time of year the annual Weston Twilight Invitational is one of the most popular, if not THE most popular, meet of the outdoor track & field season. Qualifiers for the state championships at the end of the month? The chances are tons will be attained at Saturday’s 25th annual meet, which is sponsored once again by HOKA and Marathon Sports, and live-streamed by us here at Bay State Running.

Among one of the highlights of the 2023 meet was the performance of Haverhill’s Natanael Vigo-Catala in the 400-meter run. The then-junior blazed to a time of 48.13 seconds to win his second straight title and lead two more under the 50-second mark in his specialty. We’re expecting the Georgetown University commit to be back on Saturday night looking to make it a three-peat at Weston. He’s coming off an indoor season where he defended his 300m crown at the Meet of Champions and was a bronze-medalist at the Nike Indoor Nationals in NYC. Last year’s Twilight Invite also featured a sub 54-second clocking by Hopkinton’s Sean Golemblewski in the 400m hurdles and a winning height of 12 feet, 4 inches from Westborough pole-vaulter Melinda Haagensen in the pole vault, only the third athlete in the state to ever clear 12 feet! See what we mean about top performances?

As always, the meet will be held at two different locations with the distance events (2K Steeplechase, 800m, Mile, 2 Mile and DMR) at Regis College (beginning at 5:30 p.m.) and the remaining track/field events at Weston (beginning at 5 p.m.).

Marathon Sports will be on site, selling all kinds of cool stuff, including the ever-popular hoodies and meet T-shirts. BSR will also be on site, providing complete coverage of the meet.
