Athletes Of The Week: Wellesley’s Christopher Brooks & Annie Commella

With the Large & Small School meets of Coaches Invitational Invitational taking place this past weekend it, once again, was not an easy decision choosing our HOKA Athletes of the Week. A host of athletes were worthy of this week’s honor.

For the boys, it came down to Wellesley’s Christopher Brooks and Mansfield’s Chamberlain Guthrie. Brooks clocked a winning time of 6.39 in the 55m dash at Saturday’s Large School meet and Guthrie leaped 22-11.25 to take the long jump at the Small School meet on Sunday. In a close decision, we based our decision on how their performances ranked all-time. Brooks got the nod, but only slightly. His time ranks No. 8 on the list, Guthrie is at No. 11.

For the girls, we’re going with Wellesley’s Annie Comella. The Red Raider junior broke the tape in the 55m dash at the Large School meet with a PR of 7.13. Her effort moves her to No. 1 in the state and ties her for 14th all-time with Framingham’s Abby Desmarais, who ran her best at the Meet of Champions last year.
