HOKA Female Athlete Of The Week: Abby Flagg, Whitinsville Christian

The first weekend of statewide competition was a busy one with the MSTCA XC Relays, Clipper Relays and the Vineyard X-C Invitational all taking pplace this past Saturday With the first few meets in the books, it also marks the beginning of our HOKA Athlete of the Week feature where we recognize the top performances each week for boys and girls.

For this week, we’d like to recognize Abby Flagg of Whitinsville Christian as our first female recipient of the 2023-24 season. As an eighth-grader last year, Flagg was one of our top runners in the Division 2 ranks. In her first meet as a high-schooler this weekend, the Crusader freshman picked uo where she left off by taking runner-up honors at the Vineyard Invite. Flagg battled with multiple all-stater and eventual winner Rory Sullivan of Saint Raphael Academy (RI) early in the race en route to a strong, early-season time of 19 minutes, 19.6 seconds for the 5K course. Her effort fueled her teammates to the overall title in the meet where Whitinsville Christian beat Ledyard (CT), 66-91.
