WATCH Andover Booster Invitational

While the weather wasn’t ideal with the heat playing a factor, a few MA athletes still managed to move to No. 1 in the state rankings at Saturday’s Andover Booster Invitational.

Brookline’s Camille Jordan clocked a state leader and season best in the 800-meter run where she was timed in 2 minutes, 15.36 seconds. In the discus, Peabody’s Aleesandra Forgione improved her top status with a heave of 137 feet. Lastly, St. John’s Prep’s Tireni Asenuga went 46-3-5 the triple jump, nearly three feet further than his state best.

Peabody’s Alex Jackson captured the shot (58-6) and the discus (162-3), both times with PRs and distances that rank No.2 in MA.

Natanael Vigo Catala blazed to a time of 22.32 to win the 200, edging Methuen’s Darwin Jiminez (22.42). Jimenez, last week’s 100m champion at the Weston Twilight, didn’t go home empty handed, taking his specialty in 11.06.

Andover’s Colin Kim raced to an impressive time of 1:55.34 to earn gold in the 800m.

In the shot, Aaliyah Callahan of Peabody became the fifth athlete to exceed 40 feet in the shot with a triumphant 41-5.5.
