HOKA Female Athlete Of The Week: Ellie Shea, Belmont

It was a busy and successful weekend for our MA track & field athletes with a plethora of individuals making the short trip to Boston to compete at the New Balance Nationals. School, state and meet records were broken, a host of PRs were set and for a number of our athletes, All American status was achieved inside the TRACK at new balance.

While we’d like to single out every one of them for what they did in front of the hometown crowd, one particular athlete stood out, Belmont’s Ellie Shea, this week’s HOKA Female Athlete of the Week. There was no denying that Shea was the star of the four-day meet. The gifted junior dominated the distance events. On Friday, Shea took control from the start and captured the two mile by nearly 20 seconds with a PR and state record of 9 minutes, 49.89 seconds. She followed that effort on Saturday by establishing a new meet record and state mark of 15:46.28 in the 5,000m. If that wasn’t enough. Shea also earned a bronze on Sunday in the mile where she was timed in a near-best of 4:40.76.
