This past weekend featured two of the biggest invites of the season for the Bay State, so it should come as no surprise this week’s rankings contain a lot of movement. Some teams confirmed what we already believed, while others seemed to come out of nowhere. A few teams struggled, perhaps due to the unseasonably warm weather Saturday. The Championship Races at Ocean State went off smack dab in the middle of the afternoon. Still, there was a lot to celebrate.

Bay State Invitational Recap

This weekend promised loads of action and it did not disappoint. While the Ocean State Invite may have drawn more eyes throughout the region, the Bay State Invitational provided some of the biggest results of the young season so far, and we learned a lot about some of states best teams and runners. Bay State Invitational Preview

This weekend of competition is the biggest of the season, and possibly until states in November. Both the Ocean State Invitational and the Bay State Invitational will feature many of the top teams and runners in the state. Notably, we’ll also get out first look at some of the top ranked team’s varsity squads.

Brookline and Concord-Carlisle Shine at Amherst

This past weekend was jam packed with races, so you’d be excused if you missed one. Stanley Park wasn’t the only venue in Western Mass that hosted a meet, as the Umass XC course was the site of the Amherst Invitational. Two top ranked teams from the Bay State came away with victories.

Greta Hammer Claims First Major Victory at Manchester Invite

Reigning Meet of Champions winner Greta Hammer headed north of the border to claim her first Invitational win of the season. Last year, The Manchester Invite was the site of one of the few losses she saw all season. She came in second to Glastonbury great Brooke Strauss in 2024, with a time of 19:01 on the challenging course.

Ted Dutkiewicz Memorial Invitational

This past weekend had the rare Sunday meet, as Stanley Park in Westfield, MA hosted the Ted Dutkiewicz Memorial Invitational. With many of the top teams from the western half of the state in attendance, it served as a nice preview for the Western Mass XC Championships later this season.
