What Events to Watch: The Ryan Pulpi Show: After blazing a state record indoors in the 300m, we knew he would throw down a fast 400m. At this years inaugural BSR Elite 400m, Pulpi gave us a preview, running a state #1 47.31. He’s also the top seed at 100m, 10.71, and 200m, 21.76. It’s worth noting Pulpi is not listed in any relays, so it appears the rockets are all in on getting 30 points out of their star sprinter. Shot Put: Oliver Ames’ Mitchell Callender leads the field by 12 feet with his season best of 62′ 7.25″. He’s only been out thrown once this season. Callender won the Meet of Champions Indoors. This week’s action could serve as a warmup for his battle at the Meet of Champions the following week. Callender is also the #1 seed in the Discus. 400mH: Longmeadow’s Shane O’Connor and Plymouth South’s Nixen McNeil both enter this week’s meet at 55.84. Both athletes are coming off impressive doubles where they set their 400mH bests, and also cracked 50 seconds in the flat 400m. 800m: The 800m field is deceiving as many of the top entries have run faster than their listed times. Maurice King Jr of Greater Lowell Tech has momentum at his back after winning the unseeded heat at the BSR Elite meet in 1:54.32. Melrose’s Adam Caldwell won’t roll over, as he enter’s with a best of 1:55.96. Milton’s Robert Beato enter’s with a best of 1:56.74 from the BSR Meet. Watch out for Boston Latin Academy’s Ryan Collins who recently won the Shore Coaches Invitational and holds a best of 1:55 from 2025. 110mH: Masconomet Regional’s Collin Moran leads the hurdle field with a state #3 14.49. Indoors he was second in the 55mH to Milton’s Jonah Stephen’s Roye who is the #2 seed. 2 Mile: Oliver Ames Landon Sarney won this race in an upset last year before going on to win the Cross Country Meet of Champions this past fall. With a best of 9:12 from his win at Weston, Sarney will look to add 10 points to his team’s score. Javelin: Reading’s Luke Rogerson is the top seed in the Javelin by 20 feet. His best of 201’5″ is #2 in the state at the moment.

Team Outlook: It’s hard to bet against Reading, but if you were, Walpole would be a good place to start. They won the Division 3 Relay Meet. Reading’s star power up front may be too much to overcome.

MIAA Division 3 Championship-Girls

Site/Time: Merrimack College Thursday 3:00PM and Saturday 2:30PM

What Events to Watch: Sharon’s Nina Kyei-Aboagye’s Swan Song,100m,200m: There’s not much left for her to accomplish. Kyei-Aboagye is already one of the greatest sprinter’s Massachusetts has ever seen. She currently holds the state record in the 200m Outdoors. Her current best in the 100m is 11.54, just 0.06 off the state record. While’s she’s had a relatively quiet season so far, she has a flair for the dramatic. Remember, she set the state record indoors in the 55m in the final at the Meet of Champions. Long Jump: Kyei-Aboagye won’t be alone in the 100m. Olive Ames Lavender Kozaka has run 11.84 this season. However, her best event is the Long Jump, where she holds the state lead at 20’0.75″ and is the only athlete over 20 feet this season. If you get the chance, make your way to the long jump pit to see her jump. Mile: All eye’s will be on Canton’s Lauren Raffetto. At the BSR Elite Meet, she was bumped up to the seeded heat after a few scratches, and delivered one of the biggest performances of the night, running a 16 second PR of 4:50! She is also entered in the 2-Mile and 800m, along with teammate Adileh Azar. Both are entered in the 4x400m so keep an eye on scratches. (They’re the 1 and 2 seeds in both 800m and 2 Mile). However standing in their way is O’Bryant’s Sara Chama Blanco. She’s a savvy racer having won the BAA Mile. If this race plays out tactically, who knows what could happen. Also watch out for Blackstone Valley Regional’s Riley Hargrove entered at 5:05.54. 100mH: How many points can Milton score? Led by Indoor 55mH Champion, Annaliese Aguilar, Milton has three girls in the top six. This event will be crucial to Milton’s Team Title aspirations. Aguilar is currently #2 in the state at 14.54 with Canton’s Chloe Dubuisson at #4 with a 14.66. 800m: We briefly touched on this one, but it deserves another mention. A total of seven girls have run under 2:20 led by Canton’s duo. In fact there’s four girls seeded at 2:19. Canton won’t be the only team looking for points here. Milton’s Grace Danielson is seeded #7 at 2:19.79. 4x400m: Canton is currently the only MIAA school to have broken four minutes in the 4x400m. Will they race their A team or send their squad out to score points in individual events?

Team Outlook: Canton’s name came up a lot in our preview but they lack the depth of teams like Milton and Melrose. The latter had a dominant win at the D3 Relays. All three teams should be in the mix and will need their top performers at their best.
