Middlesex League Stands Out

The 2025 Middlesex League Championships were as good as advertised. Lexington pulled off the unthinkable and swept all six races. Varsity, JV, and Freshmen for Boys and Girls.

Girls Varsity

Last season the Middlesex League Championships provided some of the fastest times in the state at the Woburn Country Club 5K course. So, the question this year was less about who was going to win, and rather how fast will they run?

17:18 was the answer. Sophomore Jane Conrad stormed to a Meet Record, State #4, and PR to set the tone for the #1 Lexington girls. Conrad had already established herself as one of the state’s best, so the fast time was icing on the cake for what has already been a fantastic season.

Lexington managed to put their top five in the top ten, and top seven in the top 15. A fantastic performance. They’re top five all ran under 18:30. Callie Glenn and Ella Tyson both finished in 18:16. Erin Ehmann and Alycia Charest ran 18:20 and 18:22. Thayer Dicerbo and Meghan Caldera crossed the line in 19:03 and 19:18 to help Lexington top a resurgent Winchester team, 29-45.

Julia Ramsey of Winchester had to battle to the line to claim second in a new PR of 18:03. Wakefield’s Quin Wilcox was right on her heals in 18:04, a PR as well. Reilly Powell of Melrose continued her strong season finishing in fourth overall, running a PR 18:07.

Two Freshmen had breakthrough races for Winchester. Millie McDonald and Chloe Chan finished in 7th and 10th, running 18:20 and 18:32. Teammate Caroline Lanz was 11th in 18:34.

Boys Varsity

Top returner Tim Connoly of Reading had yet to crack 16 minutes this season, despite running 15:11 last year. There’s nothing to worry about now, as Connolly ran a state #2 and course #2 all time, 15:03, to capture the league title. Connolly was able to put ten second on second place, a very formidable Patrick Noonan of Lexington. Connolly has thrown his hat in the mix for the Meet of Champions in a few weeks’ time.

Noonan led the boy’s champions, #2 Lexington, running a PR of 15:13. Teammates Alden Hall and Liam Singh both finished in the top ten running 15:44 and 15:46. In fact, Lexington’s top five all broke 16 minutes with Trevor Stephens and Owen Ross running 15:52 and 15:53.

Woburn’s Dawit Kulubya and Belmonts Noah Geiger battled it out for third place, running 15:30 and 15:32.

The real story of the meet may have been the Arlington Boys upsetting Reading for second place. We’d speculated about them all season, noting they hadn’t run any invitationals. Yesterday their top three finished in fifth, sixth, and seventh. Daichi Collins led the way running 15:35, with Patrick Kenneally and Owen Merril running 15:37 and 15:38. All were PRS. Arlington has catapulted themselves into the conversation for top teams in the state. They’ll have their work cut out for them in Division 1B, where they’ll face state #1 Concord-Carlisle.

Girls Junior Varsity

In case you were wondering, the state #1 has depth. Lexington took the top five spots in the JV race, with Addia Haiar running an impressive 19:49. Teammates Josephine Bettencourt, Isabella Gorospe, Talia Rech, and Prachi Aggarwall completed the top five.

Boys Junior Varsity

Lexington’s Junior Varsity, or “Varsity B Team”, had an all-around absurd performance. Remember, this team won the D1 race at Ocean State. Lexington took up the top seven all running 16:25 or better. In total they had 12 runners break 17 minutes.

Eric House won the JV race in 15:48. That’s not a statement you hear often. Teammate Sam Finch was second in 15:52.

Girls Freshmen

The future is bright for Lexington, as Emma Kosnik took the freshmen 3K in 11:03, a new meet record. Dahlia Wilson of Melrose was second in 11:35, and Winchester’s Madelyn Baynes was third in 11:43.

Boys Freshmen

Lexington’s Kiran Green made it a sweep, taking the boys 3K in 9:44. Lincoln Schuyler of Melrose was second overall in 10:09 and Benjamin Wszolek was third 10:12.

  1. Seems like most of the 5k times are something like 50 seconds faster than previous season best. The MA answer to Running Lane at John Hunt.

    1. Seems like you could say that about a few different courses this year. It’ll be nice to have everyone the same course in a few weeks.
