Girls #14 Weymouth tops #11 Natick
While many teams competed this weekend, the Wildcats were off and came out ready to roll yesterday. They topped a Natick team that won the Large School Varsity Race at the Ocean State Invitational, 20-39.
Weymouth’s duo of Sonia Souto and Jessica Harding went 1-2 to help secure the win in a crucial battle. Wins are hard to come by in the Bay State Conference as we’ve pointed out before. Our Power Rankings are full of teams from the Conference. Souto won the race in 17:00, a PR for the course. Samantha McMorrow was first overall for Natick in 17:58. These teams will meet again on 10/25 at Wrentham for the Bay State Conference Championship.
Boys #8 Natick Holds off Weymouth
The Natick boys had little time to rest after Ocean State this past weekend, as they faced a surging Weymouth Boys team. After finishing 4th at Ocean State, Natick’s John Bianchi had to dig deep again to hold of Weymouth’s Patrick Geagan and Seamus Egan. Bianchi took the win over the 2.8 Mile course in 13:52, with Geagan not far behind in 14:05. Egan finished in 14:15.
Callum Doyle secured fourth for Natick to break up the Wildcat’s top three, including Aidan McIntyre. Natick took the next four sports, 6-10, to secure the win with a score of 26-32.
#6 Boston College High School tops #10 Catholic Memorial, 21-36
The Eagles remain dominant at home on the Franklin Park course. They’re quietly putting together a season for the ages, as they once again took the first three spots against a strong opponent. Catholic Memorial had a great showing this past weekend at the Bay State Invite, so this was a tough matchup on a few days’ rest.
Greg McGrath, Colin Kurtz, and Theo Weiss went 1-3 for the Eagles, as the Knights went 4-6, led by Michael Upton. Of the top ten teams on our Power Rankings, BC high are the only ones we haven’t seen at an Invitational. At the moment, they have the Devens Pre Championship Classic and the Catholic Memorial Invite on Schedule.
Girls #5 Winchester defeats Arlington, 17-46
Winchester had a strong performance over the weekend that may have gotten lost in the shuffle of results. They were a quiet “5th” place in the Championship Race at the Ocean State Invitational. Despite only two days off, they were able to put up a decisive victory against a strong Arlington team.
Juniors Julia Ramsey and Riley Newman led the way as Winchester went 1-3. Ramsey and Newman were 31st and 33rd at Ocean State. Caroline Lanz was third for the Red and Black. Chloe Reinelt was fourth overall in a PR of 20:00 for Arlington.
Arlington Boys top Winchester, 18-43
Speedster Nico Peukert led the way for Arlington this week. He was first overall in 16:25 and was followed by teammate Owen Merrill in 16:27. Both were PRS for 5K. Noah Damsake of Winchester broke up Arlington’s top five, as he finished in third in a PR of 16:30.
Arlington is another strong team we have yet to see at an Invitational this season. Similar to the Bay State Conference, the Middlesex League provides strong competition almost every week. They’re top runner Daichi Collins has already run 16:09 against Lexington in a dual meet. The League Championship race is on 10/27, and provided some of the fastest times in the state last season.
Girls #1 Lexington tops Woburn, 17-40
Sophomore Addie Haiar of Lexington got the win and set a PR in 20:20 over the 5K course. Lexington was coming off a massive win Saturday at Ocean State, and only had two days turnaround. Once again their depth prevailed, as they took the next three spots via Josephine Bettencourt, Daphne Warren, and Isabella Gorospe.
Carla Bosso was first for Woburn in 21:48 and was followed by teammate Zoe Faiano in 21:53. Woburn faces a tough challenge again next week as they head to Winchester.
Boys #3 Lexington tops Woburn, 20-43
Senior Dawit Kulubya got the win in 16:42. Both teams were coming off a big races this past weekend. Kulubya was fourth in the B race at Bay State in 15:55 to lead Woburn to seventh overall. Lexington was coming off an incredible performance at Ocean State, where they were runner up in the championship race, and then won the Varsity and JV race.
On Tuesday they were led by seniors Will Parker and Sam Finch in 16:47 and 16:52. The Minutemen then got their next six runners in between 17:09-17:22 to secure the win. Lexington is next in action at Reading, in an epic Middlesex League Showdown.

Hopkinton has the Bob Glennon Twilight Meet on the schedule in a couple weeks which will be a great chance to see them compete along some of the state’s best.
Boys #1 Saint John’s Prep tops Xaverian’s 19-44
Coming off a massive win down in Rhode Island, Saint John’s Prep had a quick turnaround to face a tough Xaverian team. John McIntosh got the win, but had to fight to the line. He held off Xaverian’s Jack Weintraub in 17:06-17:08. Weintraub is in the midst of his first XC season and is coming off a PR at Ocean State in 16:48. Saint John’s Prep secured the win as they put another 11 runners in under 18 minutes. The Eagles are in action again next week against a tough Catholic Memorial team. Keep an eye out for those results!
