While we’ve seen plenty of action from our High School Athletes this season, they’re not the only ones competing this fall. Many of our former star runners have moved onto the Collegiate racing scene and made their debuts over the last few weeks.
The Ken O’Brien Invitational at the Umass Amherst Cross Country Course hosted many former Bay State Standouts. Last time we saw Altamo Aschkenasy, he was earning All-American honors as the anchor leg on Brookline’s DMR at New Balance Nationals. He made his collegiate debut for Umass over 6K, running 19:08 to finish seventh overall. Former Plymouth South athlete, Dylan Brilliant of Stonehill, was second overall in 18:40.

In the Women’s Race, Sydney Adams of Groton-Dunstable and now representing Umass, finished seventh in 14:09 for 4K. She was followed by Anna McElhinney of Bishop Feehan and now Umass, in 14:33.

Umass Amherst will be in actions this weekend at the Maribel Sanchez Souther Memorial Invitational hosted by Dartmouth in Hanover, NH. They’ll be competing alongside Northeastern who also feature plenty of our former athletes.
Stonehill will be competing at the Umass Dartmouth (MA) Invitational this weekend, alongside Boston University, another team that features many Bay State Athletes.
Here’s a quick roundup of other notable debuts and Performances:
Both Shamus Larnard (BC High) and Aoife Shovlin (Cambridge) made their debuts for Penn at the New Jersey Jam hosted by Princeton. Larnard ran 17:33 over the 5.8K course alongside his brother Chris in 17:34. Shovlin ran 14:49 for the 4.1K course.
Ethan Sholk (Lincoln-Sudbury) and Jared Rife (Belmont) made their 8K Debuts for Middlebury at the Aldrich Invitational in 26:13 and 27:11
The Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational also featured some great performances from Bay State Athletes. Former Marshfield great Graham Heinrich made his debut for Pitt, running 27:01 for the 5.2 Mile Race. In the Women’s race, Syracuse’s Carmen Luisi of Holliston, and Lauren Augustyn of Bishop Feehan, ran 21:24 and 22:11 for the 6K Course. Annie Reilly, formerly of Oliver Ames, ran 22:38 representing Colgate.
Former 2 Mile Champ, Nate Assa of Marblehead, made his 8K debut for Purdue running 25:06 at the Spartan Invite, while Ava Criniti of Lexington, now representing Northwestern, ran 20:20 for the 6K Course to finish fourth overall.
Now Representing Carnegie Mellon, Lysander Duffield of Brookline, made his 8K debut as well. He ran 25:52 at the Robert Morris Invitational.
