MSTCA Speed Classic, Day 2: Photos & Highlights

Day 2 of the MSTCA Sprint Classic was held Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Below are some of the highlights and links to compete results and access to nearly 800 photos!

Atlantis Charter’s Thalys Silva soared to a triumphant 22 feet, 10.25 inches in the long jump, nearly three feet further than his closest rival. Silva’s PR effort ranks among the top 20 all time in the state.

In a fast 300-meter dash, two sprinters went under 36 seconds with Walpole’s Brady Thomas (35.56) and Lawrence’s Cristian Reinoso (35.97) going under the mark with their 1-2 finish. Thomas surpasses previous state-leader Ashvin Baker of Wilmington, who ran 35.92 last week in a league meet. Reinoso moves to No. 3 in the rankings. Thomas came back later and ran a leg on Walpole’s winning 4x200m squad (1:35.13), along with teammates Matt Nealon, Scott Falvey and Owen Abril, who also a won the 55m hurdles where he was timed in 7.90.

For the girls. Tantasqua’s Keoni Savoie blazed to a PR of 7.40.

Less than a second separated the top three in the 600m, an event won by Wachusett’s Naomi Witt with a time of 1:39.15. Following Witt were Braintree’s Caitlyn Chang (second, 1:39.50), and Lunenburg’s Olivia Coronella (third, 1:39.86).

Lunenburg captured the 4x400m with a state No. 5 of 4:18.24. The quartet consisted of Rylan Arnold, Casey Corey, Coronella and Sophia Viveiros.
