Meet records fell in bunches at the South Shore Twilight Invitational.
A total of 10 records were set at Saturday’s meet, held at Norwell High.
The host school’s Liliana MacDonald was a triple winner with record-setting performances in two of them. MacDonald established new meet marks in the triple jump (PR, 38 feet, 10 inches) and the long jump (17-10). She also earned gold in the 100m hurdles where she was timed in 16.05 seconds. MacDonald’s effort in the triple jump moved her to No. 4 in the state. She ranks sixth in the long jump.
The Clippers’ Noah Mulligan also went home with two gold medals wrapped around his neck. The talented junior took the 200m in 22.57 and the 400m in a record of 49.72. He currently ranks No. 2 in the 400m with a best of 48.57.
Dennis Yarmouth’s Breanna Braham captured the 400m with a time of 59.85. She also took the 200m in a record of 26.05.
Top seed Jarred Mighty of Brockton was nearly two seconds under the MR (57.88) in the 400m hurdles where he clocked a triumphant 55.78. Mighty has been a model of consistency lately with his third sub-56 performance in as many meets. He owns a best of 55.20, which he did to capture the SEC Championships on Monday. Last weekend he won the MSTCA Coaches Invitational at 55.79.
In the javelin, Norwell’s Diana Won broke her own meet record with a toss of 111-2. She was just under last year’s mark of 110-0.
The underclassmen were impressive, too. Natick’s Callum Doyle raced to a record 4:37.62 to take the Freshmen Mile. He was followed by Catholic Memorial’s Marcus Kiehl at 4.43.46, a time that was also faster than the previous mark of 4:44.85.
Other record-breakers at South Shore were Wellesley’s Emma Tuxbury in the girls’ 800m (2:21.03), Dedham’s Jayden Brown in the boys’ discus (154-10, and Nipmuc’s Liam Dorr, who tied the MR in the boys’ high jump (6-0).
The Freshmen 400m featured a PR and winning effort of 53.53 from Cohasset’s Michael Giglio. Finishing about five meters behind was Worcester Tech’s Kayden Gray with a time of 54.82.
Whitinsville Christian’s Emily Flagg was a runaway victory in the two mile, which she won by nearly a half a lap in 11:27.60.
