With nine meets taking place this weekend, including the MSTCA State Relays, there was plenty to choose from for this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week. While the decision was difficult, we felt our most deserving male and female recipients were the Xaverian Brothers boys’ 4×100-meter/200m squad and the Framingham girls’ sprint medley/4x400m quartet, both of which were comprised of the same individuals and both who competed in the Division 1 State Relays at Franklin High.
The Xaverian Bros’ quartet of Jordan Wilson, Alex Todorov, Mitchell Kisgen and Henry Hasselbeck proved victorious in two exciting races against some of the state’s best. The Hawks established new meet records and state leaders in both events, winning the 4x100m in 42.25 seconds and the 4x200m in 1:28.33.
The Framingham foursome of Catelyn Last, Ava Lombardo, Abby Desmarais and Sasha Lamakina were dominant in winning their events at the D1 meet. For the SMR, the Flyers clocked the eighth fastest time in the country with a winning 4:06.53. Later in the meet, the gifted quartet was at it again, dipping under four minutes for the 4x400m with a state-leading 3:58.54.
