It’s all about the league championships this time of year.
We’ve had a few that have already taken place and plenty more on the horizon, including a lineup of four meets being held at Wrentham on Saturday.
So what has happened so far? Here’s a quick look at our individual and team champions at a few of our competitions over the last week..
The Dual Valley Conference Championships were held on Oct. 18 at Hopedale. Whitinsville Christian swept the team titles with the boys just getting by Hopedale, 34-35, and the girls posting a 24-44 triumph over Sutton. Individually, Justin Vos of Whitinsville captured the boys’ crown at 16:29.95, while the Crusaders’ Emily Flagg was first for girls in 19:07.57.
Boston College High and Notre Dame Academy – Hingham were the respective boys’ and girls’ team winners at the Catholic Conference Championships. The Eagles defeated St. John’s Prep, 24-55, on Tuesday at Franklin Park. NDA was a 25-66 victor over Malden Catholic on Wednesday at Bare Cove Park. BC’s Chris Larnard (15:39.37) and Malden Catholic’s Mia Waldron (20:22) were the first to cross the line.
The Southeast Conference Championships also took place on Wednesday. Just two points separated the top three teams in the boys’ competition with Dartmouth earning the hardware with a 39-40 decision over runner-up Brockton. Bridgewater Raynham was third with 41 points. It was the polar opposite in the girls’ meet with Bridgewater Raynham scoring a low 20 points. New Bedford was a distant second with 75 points. Brockton’s Seamus Canniff claimed the boys’ crown with a time of 16:45.55. Camden Strandberg of Bridgewater Raynham broke the tape in the girls’ race with a 19:26.33 clocking .
At the CCL Championships on Thursday at Franklin Park, Bishop Feehan went 2-for2 in the team competition. The Shamrocks beat BIshop Fenwick, 29-54, in the boys’ meet and were a 32-52 winner over Bishop Fenwick for girls. Bishop Stang’s Lowell Coops (17:06.31) and Feehan’s Lauren Augustyn (19:35.90) were the top individuals.
