Outdoor Season Begins As BSR Previews Top Talent, Seeks Athlete Stories

While at times it may not feel like spring, the outdoor track & field season is here. We’re getting a brief break from meet coverage – but not from producing regular content here at Bay State Running.

Over the next few weeks, BSR will preview some of the state’s top athletes in each event. As always, there will be plenty to write about. The indoor season featured an abundance of stars, several of whom earned All-American honors at the recent New Balance Nationals.

Athletes like Westford Academy’s Abby Hennessy – one of the nation’s top distance specialist and a runner-up in both the mile and two mile at New Balance – and Natick hurdler Emmanuella Edozien, a bronze medalist in the 60-meter hurdles at the mid-March meet, are back for their final season.

The same goes for a long list of others, including Catholic Memorial’s Amar Skeete, who came just a half-inch shy of 50 feet in the triple jump at New Balance, and Reading’s Ryan Pulpi, the state’s only sprinter under 34 seconds in the 300m this winter. What does that translate to for the 400m this spring, where he is the defending champion? Guess we’ll find out.

Along with previewing the upcoming season, we’re always open to writing feature stories on athletes with something special to share, especially those who have achieved success through adversity. Have an ideas? Reach out to us via email at smazzone5@gmail.com.
