DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP – GIRLS
Day/Time: Sunday, 10 a.m.
Teams: Acton-Boxborough, Andover, Arlington, Attleboro, Boston College High, Boston Latin, Braintree, Brockton, Brookline, Cambridge Rindge & Latin, Central Catholic, Durfee, Framingham, Franklin, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lexington, Lowell, Medford, Methuen, Natick, Needham, New Bedford, Newton North, Newton South, Saint John’s, Saint John’s Prep, Shrewsbury, Taunton, Wachusett, Weymouth, Xaverian Brothers
Top Events To Watch: The 55-meter dash has the potential to be epic next weekend with two (or more!} under seven seconds. One of those sprinters will be answering the gun on Sunday with Methuen’s Lauren Quarm. The No. 1 seed was the state-leader throughout the season until Wednesday when Sharon’s Nina Kyei-Aboagye took it away with a triumphant 6.98 seconds. Right behind was Malden freshman Khadijah Diagne at 7.11 Quarm will be looking to become our state’s second speedster to go sub-7, and we believe it will happen this weekend. The talented senior, who’s gone under the mark twice in her career, came mere inches from doing it a third time, clocking 7.0 at the Northeast Invitational. She’s has the competition to push her with Lexington’s Aubrey Deardorf (7.21) and gifted frosh, Terry Kwarteng (7.27), at the next two seeds...Natick’s Chloe Elder will be looking to pull off an improbable double on Sunday. She’s entered in 600m and 300m where she owns the top seeds. In the 600m, she faces Newton North’s Penny Blumenthal in a rematch of their classic duel at the Bay State Conference Meet of Champions where they produced the state’s top two times of 1:34.27 and 1:35.20, respectively. Never-to-be-ignored Emily Frawley of Newton South is the No. 3 seed with a time of 1:35.95. With this trio on the line, there’s potential for a time in the 1:33 range with Elder leading the charge. About 30 minutes later, Elder will be back on the oval for the 300m where she owns a PR of 39.01. Her biggest threats to spoil a sweep is Framingham’s Ava Lombardo, who has a seed of 40.89…Speaking of doubles, that’s what Lexington sophomore Amelia Whorton will have on her mind this weekend. Whorton is the No. 1 seed in the mile (4:58.70) and the 1,000m (2:58.21). The talented runner will have just under an hour rest between the two and won’t be able to hold back too much in the mile, which is her first event. Five in this field have broken 5:10. That quintet includes Lexington’s Jane Conrad (5:07.98), Wachusett’s Naomi Witt (5:08.17), Central Catholic’s Kyla Breslin (5:08.24), Newton South’s Isabelle Monaghan (5:08.73) and Lexington’s Ella Tyson (5:09.20). In the 1K, she’ll take on several runners in that low three-minute range this season, including Frawley. The NS senior is entered in the 600, held just 20 minutes earlier. If she doesn’t scratch from this event we could have a race. Frawley has a seed of 3:00.12 from her victory at the Northeast Invitational, but owns an all-time best of 2:54.09 from her runner-up finish at last year’s Meet of Champions. She’s also a 2:10 half-miler…Could we have another state record in the 55m hurdles? It’s certainly a possibility with the owner of the current mark on the line this weekend. Natick’s Emmanuella Edozien is the overwhelming favorite in this race. At the Northeast Invitational, Edozien lowered her 2025 record to 7.94, a time that currently ranks No. 10 in the country. She coming off a near sub-8 of 8.09 from her win at the Bay State Conference Meet of Champions. Central Catholic’s Arianna DiPietro is the two seed with a best of 8.33…Newton North, one of four teams to go under 1:46 in the 4x200m relay, will be eyeing a possible state-leader in the event. The Tigers have a best of 1:45.55, a time that ranks No. 4 on the list. Andover (1:46.41) and Needham (1:47.22) are the 2-3 seeds. Milton holds the top spot this season for the 4×2 at 1:45.34…Lexington’s Ainsley Cuthbertson will be looking to improve her state lead in the shot. She’s the clear-cut favorite in this event on Sunday with her current best of 42-8.75. At the two seed is Taunton’s Sophia Olaniyan at 36-2….On the subject of state leads, that what the high jump with feature with current No. 1 S’starr Parham of Attleboro. She holds the top spot this season with a leap of 5-6.25 from her win at a Hockomock League meet last month. Tied at 5-2, based on seeds, are Andover’s Millicient Tuohy, Arlington’s Ella Radoslovich and Boston Latin’s Chisom Jones.
Team Outlook: Lexington appears like a solid favorite to win the crown on Sunday, Wachusett and Newton North are among other teams that should fare well.

The two hurdlers are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, with times of 7.50 and 7.54. We’re expecting this one to come right down to the wire…The 600m could be one of the more exciting races of the day. Seven in this race have gone under 1:24. The top seed and favorite in this race is Nico Peukert, who won a league meet with a PR of 1:22.54. The next two seeds are Lowell’s Denzel Kisekka (1:22.97) and Brookline’s Harry Flint (1:23.37). Flint is also scheduled to compete in the 1,000m where he’s the No. 2 seed. We’re guessing he might scratch with the 1K just about 15 minutes later. If he does just go with the 600m, we got a race that could have several winning on Sunday Expect this one to be determined in the final few meters...The long jump features one of five leapers that have exceeded 23 feet this season with top seed Simon Tandeih at the sand pit. Tandeih soared to a winning 23-1.75 at the Div. 1 State Relays. Four more in this event have gone 22 feet or more, including Central Catholic’s Jeremiah Mateo Mora at 22-5.25. One of the the final event of the day, the 4x200m relay, could be the most exciting of he day. It features three teams on the brink of break 1:30 with St. John’s Prep (1:30.03), Xaverian Brothers (1:30.06) and Newton North (1:30.75) on the line. Acton Boxborough, a squad with a series of success in the event, is the four seed at 1:31.54. Handoff could prove crucial in this one.
Team Outlook: Brookline, St. John’s Prep and Lowell come in as the top three teams in a battle that could come down to the final few events.
