This Saturday all three divisions will converge on Willard Park at Fort Devens. But first, the now famous course played host to division three as teams across the Bay State did battle and gave us a great preview of what’s to come.
Division 3C
In our predictions we had Parker Charter, Bromfield, and Mt Greylock taking the top three spots, and that’s how they finished. It was a repeat of the year before, as powerhouse Parker Charter had another dominant performance scoring 36 points. Bromfield held off Mt Greylock 86 points to 90.
After finishing runner up last season, Nathaniel Henshaw took home the individual crown with the fastest time of the day, running 16:11. After a fourth place showing at the Meet of Champs last season, this may be his year for the ultimate crown. Teammate and freshmen sensation, Jett Johnson was fifth overall, helping Parker Charter secure their victory. Johnson was timed in 16:43. Cypress Lance also cracked the top ten and 17 minutes, running 16:58. Zephyr Schermerhorn, 17:10, Danny Garrison, 17:11, Stellan Ogilvie, 17:58, and John Marble, 18:40, wrapped up the scoring for Parker Charter.
The top three separated themselves from the field, as Ben McWaters of Bromfield finished runner up in 16:17, and freshmen Quinn Cook of Hopedale was third in 16:24. McWaters was coming of consecutive victories at the Mid-Wach League Championships and the Frank Mooney Invitational. Cook has had a tremendous season thus far and will battle to be the top freshmen overall next week. Hopedale teammate Ben Stone was fourth overall in 16:40, helping Hopedale finish fourth as a team.
Mt Greylock were led by a top ten finish by Finnegan Voisin in 17:05. Their entire top five finished in the top 30
Division 3B
The Hampshire Regional Boys were runner up at Ted Dutkiewicz Invite early in September, and last week they were victorious in the Western Mass Championship B Race. After a steady build all season, Hampshire Regional got the win in the Division 3B Race on Saturday.
Oscar Schiff and Owen Cubi led the way with top ten finishes, placing 7th and 10th, and running 17:05 and 17:11. The rest of their top five, Augustus Niswonger, Aidan Conklin, and Hobbes O’Sullivan, finished in the top 30. Sam Plummer and Ben Zajac finished in the top 50.
Frontier Regional Junior Even Hedlund secured the upset victory, taking the crown in 16:20. After a big spring season that saw him run 4:19, Hedlund is one to keep an eye on. Teammate Luke Howard was second overall in 16:31. Frontier finished fourth overall as a team.
Defending Division Three and Ocean State Champion Everett Pachecho was sixth overall after missing a chunk of the season. Don’t count him out yet as he still qualified for next week’s race. Mathew Pilon of Lunenberg was third overall in 16:42. After finishing 27th last season, Pilon is having a breakout season and is one to watch moving forward in his junior year.
Cole Regan of Hamilton-Wenham was fourth overall in 16:53 to help his team finish second with 80 points, just three back of Hampshire. Maxwell Thompson of Littleton was fifth overall in 16:57 to help secure third place for Littleton.
Division 1A
