Abigail Hennessy just put the rest of the Northeast on notice. As we mentioned in our coverage of the Catholic Memorial Invitational, this is a new course at Franklin Park, which makes comparing times subjective. However, whatever you believe to be the official course record, for reference Shalane Flanagan ran 17:08 in 1999, Hennessy just obliterated that. Her winning time of 16:46 is astounding. Last year’s Foot Locker Northeast Champion Virginia Krauss ran 17:34 on the old course. Speculate all you want about the course, but Hennessy’s performance puts her on a short list of national contenders.
The battle for second was fantastic as well, as #16 Cambridge Rindge & Latin’s Sophia Jaunes Seto ran a PR of 18:02 to top #2 Westford Academy’s Emily Wedlake, who finished in 18:06. Both are phenomenal times in their own right.
Led by two top five performances, Westford Academy took the win with an impressive score of 26. Diya Shresthra and Phoenix Philbrick finished together in 19:18 to place sixth and seventh. Emily Deeks crossed the line in 19:33 for ninth place.
#6 Concord-Carlisle finished second to Westford Academy with 42 points. Maria Chopas finished fourth overall in 18:30 and was followed by teammate Emma Kjaersgaard in 19:06.

#1 Ranked Concord Carlisle got the win in a great battle with #4 Cambridge Rindge & Latin, 26-44. Charles McDonald got the win in 15:44 over Cambridge freshmen Thomas Dewitt in 15:46. Dewitt continues to impress this season as one of the fastest freshmen in the state. Concord-Carlisle’s Brendan Quinn had to fight to the line to defeat Cambridge’s Leon Ibanez-Fraile, 15:47.5 to 15:47.9. This is crucial as it shows what Concord-Carlisle can do when key points are on the line.
Concord-Carlisle’s Joey Bodenrader and Westford Academy’s David Caggiano also cracked 16 minutes, running 15:55 and 15:59. Concord-Carlisle’s top five all finished in the top ten, with Braeden Quayle and Isah Nichol running 16:06 and 16:12. All seven of their runner’s finished under 17 minutes, and they had another four from the JV race.

Boston Latin got the win over Weston and Bedford with 35 points. Despite not having any runners in the top five, Latin’s strength became apparent as more runners came in. Their top four of Sofia Hennessy, Madeleine Bukhman, Annabelle Bagley, and Eileen Carlson-O’Fallon all finished in the top 10.
Weston’s Jessica Bourne got the overall win in 19:12. She’ll look to break the tape again in a few weeks at the Division 3A race where she was fourth last year. Addison Poulter of Bedford was runner up in 19:21. Poulter recently won the Dick Atkinson Invitational in a PR of 18:54.
Boys Varsity Foley
