With only a few major meets this past week and many teams taking the weekend off, our girls’ and boys’ rankings remain mostly static. This week is the calm before the storm as many league championships take place over the next seven days. A lot of these meets will provide our final look at many teams before the Divisional State Championships.
The girl’s rankings remain static this week, not for lack of action though. #1 Lexington had their most impressive run of the season last week. First, they defeated #4 Winchester in league competition. Then they headed to Franklin Park for a dominant win where they placed seven runners in the top 18 at the Catholic Memorial Invite. Lexington looks unstoppable at the moment. We’ll see them again next Monday at the Middlesex League Championships.
#8 Westwood won the Tri-Valley League Championships over the weekend. They put their top seven in the top 18 and their top five in the top 12 to earn a score of 40. Westwood has proven that they’re still the team to beat in Division Two this season.
On tap this weekend we have the Bay State Conference which features an astounding four teams from our rankings. #5 Newton North, #7 Needham, #12 Weymouth, and #18 Wellesley will duke it on Saturday. Last year the top four teams were separated by four points. This year’s championships take place at Wrentham, providing a great preview for the Division One Champions that will take place there as well.
Keep an eye out this week as we cover League Championships as their results come in.
